Global warming. The earth is undergoing a tremendous changes, A huge change that will definitely threaten the life of 6,5 billions of its residents.
The term global warming seems to be more and more popular since 2003s where nearly all countries are startled with the result of a research done by NASA showing that there are approximately trillion tons of ice are melting in the north pole. We all can guess the impact of such activity. The sea level of all seas in the world is estimated to keep on leveling up.
In addition to all natural disaster phenomenon currently happen in many places in all over the world. Let’s start with the a series of earthquakes happened in Indonesia since 2004 in Aceh, North Sumatera, DI Yogyakarta, Tasikmalaya and the last one in West Sumatera. Huge floods due to the tropical Ketsana storm in Philippine and China last September 2009 or extreme weather alterations in many areas, hurricanes, sea overflowing into the settlements (rob) and many more. All that have been earlier mentioned are an indication that our earth is experiencing a”contraction” due to human kind’s mistreatment.
According to Big Bang theory of the whole universe creation, it is known that at the end the world will shrink. After undertake an enormous explosion process from one substance, growing and finally the earth will shrink. However, we do not have to wait until the Big Bang theory is proven, the destruction of our earth and universe has already began and could take place sooner. The reason is because the human civilization extinction could take place anytime whenever human beings ignoring their nature in actively participate in preserving nature and surroundings.
The urge of industrialization era, the national leaders greed, illegal logging, energy consumptive habits in a numbers of country has resulted in the increasing of dioxide carbon gas, the thinning of ozone layer, green house effect as well as air pollution. A study result done by several weather experts from all over the world shows that the earth’s temperature has sky rocketing 3 degree Celsius since 1900s. Such rising is quite irritating when we recognize that the current average temperature of our earth is about 30 degree Celsius in many areas. That is only a minor picture of the global warming threat.
The question is “is it important for us to think about the phenomenon of global warming?”
The answer would be all up to us. The downfall is many government policies in all over the world seems to be aimed in one single “language”. Discontented by give birth Kyoto protocol declaration, nearly all countries in the world are going to participate in the Copenhagen Declaration that is supposed to hold on December 2009. If the Copenhagen Declaration is already sign, it is confirmed that all the governments in the world will restrain the green house effect and CO2 pollution from their industry sector.
A complicated and difficult language; yet who else is going to save our beloved earth if it is not started from us right now? Divera Wicaksono, TWNC (2009)
