Some time ago, TWNC patrol team has found a wounded tiger and saved her. These wild tigers living in the forest conservation at TWNC. During the healing period at Sumatran Tiger Rescue Centre TWNC, without any suspicious, the tiger gave birth to three (3) cubs on October 26, 2011 early morning. Apparently she was pregnant when injured. State of pregnancy had been guessed by our tiger keeper but examination of details that do not yet produced results when all of a sudden she had given birth.
Three tiger cubs are currently still in the Sumatran Tiger Rescue Centre TWNC and in good health and normal growth. With the presence of three cubs who 21 days age, recorded TWNC has rescue and rehabilitate 12 Sumatran tigers, including the wild tiger who gave birth to three cubs earlier.
Veterinarian from the Artha Graha Care (AGP), Dr.Satmoko, which at the first opportunity after the birth of a baby tiger got word directly dispatched to TWNC, in his explanation said that the birth of three cubs take place naturally without human intervention. "The sex of three cubs suspected male but remains to be confirmed. Now the mother tiger still very protective and moreover she is a wild tiger. So it's still a bit difficult to get really close to her cubs" said Dr.Satmoko.
Dr.Satmoko mentioned the birth of three Sumatran cubs is the pride for TWNC. This is an indication that the process of maintenance and protection of forest conservation TWNC has gone well, so that reproduction can occur naturally by wild tigers living in the woods.
In order to maintain and preserve the health of cubs and the mother tiger, TWNC who had been working with veterinarians and wildlife experts from Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI), has also brought the team to TWNC the following week after birth. The team continued to conduct surveillance on a daily basis. "We also manage diet and provide vitamins specifically for the mother to be able to give milk that according to the needs of the cubs," delivered by Dr. Ardita, TSI representative .
TWNC and TSI team continue hand in hand to ensure the condition of the mother and cubs can be well preserved for the survival of Sumatran tiger species. This birth is a tribute to the struggle of all experts in the world's tiger conservation.
